Window BlindsWindow blinds are
different from window shades in that blinds are typically made
from hard materials such as wood, metal or vinyl and have
slats or louvers. Window blinds are often used in hot climates
to filter out strong light and allow air circulation. Blinds
can be hung either vertically or horizontally and the light
can be adjusted by altering the angle of the slats. |

There are many types of blinds including wood blinds,
vertical blinds, Venetian blinds, and mini blinds. The type of
blinds you choose will depend on many factors. One of these factors
is the type of window. For example, a patio door or sliding glass
door window will be better served by vertical blinds that are hung
high and wide. These blinds can be retracted to allow easy entry and
exit
Blinds can also be used for various rooms in the house
such as the living room, kitchen and the bedroom. For the living
room, you may want to consider vinyl blinds or blinds that are
translucent so that when you close the blinds for privacy, you can
still allow light through. For the bedroom, you may want to consider
aluminum blinds or wood blinds so that when you close the blinds all
the light is blocked. This will prevent the light from waking you up
in the morning. However, if you prefer to be woken up by the morning
light, then choose translucent blinds.
Kitchen windows are
also good places to use blinds. Mini blinds are good for smaller
windows and are easy to clean. Nice curtains may not work for
kitchens that are used frequently. Therefore, blinds are better
since they are easy to clean. To clean off blinds, just close them
and wipe them off.
When choosing blinds as your window
coverings, you should first consider the style of your room. Blinds
typically suit the clean lines of contemporary interiors. Blinds
also allow you to vary the amount of light and privacy to a higher
degree than curtains that you either open or close. If you need this
particular light varying functionality then blinds may be your
answer. Next, you want to look at the material for the blinds. You
may want to match that with the rest of your room. Wood gives a
natural look while metal works well for a modern look.
